Alton Memorial CT Scan

Alton, IL

BJC and Alton Memorial Hospital asked Nova Group, Inc. to assist it in adding a new CT Scanner to the services that the hospital currently offers. Given the preferred equipment, a Siemens Somatom Definition AS64 floor mounted unit, Nova Group assisted Alton Memorial Hospital in providing a design that was both functional and avoided structural problems by turning the unit slightly to avoid penetrating a concrete beam below. Existing finishes were updated to the current hospital standards and this area of the Radiology unit was brought up to 21st Century standards.

Jim Pinter lead the design and construction documents efforts for Nova Group, Inc. as Principal Architect for this project. Due to the combined efforts of the design team at Nova Group, Inc, Alton Memorial Hospital, BJC and Siemens, major issues were uncovered early in the Design Phase and resolved in the Design Phase so that the project was constructed without change orders. Design of an efficient layout as well as avoiding a major structural issue, in addition to “quarterbacking” the final approval submittals to the Illinois Department of Public Health, were the highlights of the value that Nova Group, Inc. was able to provide on this project.

Completion Date:  December 2009
